KELLY BAR Splash Fill Media

Kelly Bar Splash Fill Media, a well-known splash fill profile with a proven performance track record, is now precision-manufactured by Brentwood. Named after Neil Kelly, the man responsible for significant contributions in the field of crossflow wet cooling technology and publisher of the "Kelly Handbook of Crossflow Cooling Tower Performance", this classic design maximizes practicality and can be oriented either parallel or perpendicular to airflow and in any standard fill arrangement, depending on thermal requirements.

Features and Benefits
• The 4.25” (108mm) wide top surface and 1/8” (3mm) wire overhang help reduce water streaming between fill layers.
• The Inverted-V Stiffener strengthens the Kelly Bar to reduce the potential for damage from high water or ice loading.
•Heavy-duty Kelly Bars can span up to 5ft. (1524mm), reducing the number of wire hangers needed.
•Kelly Bar can be notched either 3" or 6" from end. Notches can be placed at any point in 6" increments from initial end notch. See drawing for typical notch configurations.
• Kelly Bars nest to each other for space-efficient stacking and cost-effective shipping.
• Made from rigid CTI STD-136 PVC and UV-protected with ultra-fine carbon black.

• When mounted with Brentwood Fill Clips, droplet-induced vibration and flutter is reduced, creating more energetic droplet rebound and increased thermal performance.

Materials
Brentwood Kelly Bar Splash Fill is made from CTI STD-136 PVC with ultra-fine carbon black UV protection. PVC compounds used in all Brentwood components have outstanding resistance to weather exposure and are nearly impervious to chemical degradation by alkalis and acids, grease, fats, oils, and biological attack. Because it is self-extinguishing, PVC has an excellent fire rating, which helps reduce insurance costs.

Brentwood AccuGrip™ Integrated Splash Fill Supports
are a high-strength, non-corrosive, glass fiber reinforced polymer alternative to conventional wire splash fill support systems. The one-piece construction eliminates the costs and labor of the fill clips and hanger brackets needed in wire systems.

Standard 2’ x 3’ AccuGrip Supports are typically connected by AccuGrip Ties into 2’ x 6’ sections. Customizable (4” x 4” grid, notched panels, lock tab options, etc.) to meet most splash fill support configurations. The AccuGrip system has been extensively tested for load, tensile, creep, heat, and moisture effects and achieves a working safety factor of 15:1.

The Brentwood Splash Fill Media Wire Hanging System (Hanger Brackets, Fill Clips, and Stainless Steel or PVC-Coated Wire) is designed to securely and effectively install Kelly Bar Splash Fill Media:

Hanger Bracket

Hanger Brackets
Brentwood Hanger Brackets are designed to evenly distribute the load of the wire hanging system. Unlike the point loading of staples or nails, these brackets provide full-width support and minimize wire bending, wear, and breakage. They are delivered pre-notched to your specifications and pre-drilled for nailing. Brackets are available with or without a lip.
Heavy-duty brackets are available for installations where higher loading is anticipated.




V Bar Clip Fill Clips
Quickly, easily snap Kelly Bar Splash Fill Media into the Fill Clip and the clip's extended tabs and raised center rib prevent the Bar from slipping out. Keeping the media secured prevents wear on both the wire hanger and the fill itself. Brentwood Fill Clips are made of Polypropylene Copolymer, a high impact-resistant material that remains flexible at a wide range of temperatures. Each clip is 4" (100mm) wide and weighs .19 oz (5g).

PVC-Coated, Galvanized Steel  Wire

Riverdale Welded Wire Mesh
Brentwood recommends Riverdale Welded Wire Mesh for our splash fill hanging systems. Designed and constructed for the harsh environments found inside cooling towers, Riverdale Welded Wire Mesh is available in both 304L stainless steel and PVC-coated galvanized wire.

This PVC-coated galvanized wire is made from hard, drawn, low-carbon steel and galvanized to ASTM standards. The PVC coating is a durable, flexible, fuse-bonded coating with a minimum thickness of 0.015”. All factory-cut ends are sealed prior to shipping.

A wide variety of mesh sizes are available, with many of the popular mesh spacings available from stock (see table below).

Special features such as unequal vertical wire spacing, pigtails, and racking are also available.
